Extension Coordinator

Full-Time, Permanent

Location: Fairview, Alberta

Salary Range: $52,000 - $74,000

The Peace Country Beef & Forage Association (PCBFA) is a non-profit producer group that strives to provide leading-edge, credible, and locally viable information to Peace Country producers, through our applied research and extension programs.  We inspire and empower innovation in agriculture, and move forward the agriculture industry in the Peace, by enhancing its environmental, social, and economic sustainability.

 

The Extension Coordinator is responsible for planning and delivering a robust and relevant extension program for our local producers, including in-person and online events, videos, written publications, and podcasts.  The Extension Coordinator is also responsible for developing annual Needs Assessment Surveys and Event Evaluation Forms, as well as compiling and analyzing the results for use in measuring the success and guiding the direction of the extension program.  The coordinator also assists with grant applications and reporting, as well as sourcing new funding for the extension program.

 

Duties of the Extension Coordinator Include:

 

  1. Produce PCBFA Podcast

  2. Prepare and distribute annual Needs Assessment Survey of membership; compile and review results.

  3. Work with the Extension & Office Manager to develop the strategic plan.

  4. Develop ideas for workshops and source speakers.

  5. Work within provided event budgets, and plan details of workshops and other events including venues, catering, advertising and more.

  6. Assist with grant applications and reporting as related to the extension team.

  7. Work with the Extension & Office Manager to ensure that extension requirements as per all grant agreements are met in the necessary time period.

  8. Source content, create and contribute monthly newsletters.

  9. Organize and conduct in-person and online events throughout the year.

  10. Provide day-to-day support for members.

  11. Update and maintain all PCBFA tracking sheets as necessary for grant reporting and tracking purposes.

                                                                

Areas of Competence Required:

 

  1. Skills to plan, advertise and host organized events are essential for this position.

  2. Strong communication skills: verbal and written communication skills are essential, as are good listening skills. The ability to communicate effectively with team members, funders, industry members, and producers is necessary for this position.

  3. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and ever-changing work environment.

 

Podcast creation, journalism and agricultural knowledge and experience would be highly valuable for this position, but not a requirement – training will be provided.

 

Starting salary range is $52,000- $74,000 annually.
